Outer Membrane Porins Contribute to Antimicrobial Resistance in Gram-Negative Bacteria

چکیده

Gram-negative bacteria depend on their cell membranes for survival and environmental adaptation. They contain two membranes, one of which is the outer membrane (OM), home to several different proteins (Omps). One class important Omps porins, mediate inflow nutrients antimicrobial drugs. The microorganism’s sensitivity antibiotics, are predominantly targeted at internal sites, greatly influenced by permeability characteristics porins. In this review, properties interactions five common OmpA, OmpC, OmpF, OmpW, OmpX, in connection porin-mediated outlined. Meanwhile, review also highlighted discovered regulatory identified molecular mechanisms antibiotic penetration through Taken together, uncovering porins’ functional will pave way investigate effective agents or approaches that use porins as targets get rid resistant gram-negative bacteria.

The Outer Membrane of Gram-negative Bacteria and the Cytoplasmic Membrane The Outer Membrane of Gram-Negative Bacteria

The major permeability barrier in any membrane is the lipid bilayer structure, and its barrier property is inversely correlated with its fluidity. Bacteria cannot make this membrane much less fluid or it will start to interfere with the normal functions of the membrane proteins, so some bacteria have constructed an additional structure that surrounds the cell outside the cytoplasmic membrane. A...

Resistance to antimicrobial peptides in Gram-negative bacteria.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are present in virtually all organisms and are an ancient and critical component of innate immunity. In mammals, AMPs are present in phagocytic cells, on body surfaces such as skin and mucosa, and in secretions and body fluids such as sweat, saliva, urine, and breast milk, consistent with their role as part of the first line of defense against a wide range of patho...

New insight into the application of outer membrane vesicles of Gram-negative bacteria

This review presents a brief outline of our current knowledge of the structure and chemical composition of the outer membrane vesicles (OMVs), originating from the surface of Gram negative bacteria including their outer membrane proteins and lipopolysaccharides. Moreover, the functional roles and applications of OMVs in medical research such as OMV-based vaccines, OMV adjuvants properties, OMV ...

Outer-membrane pore-forming proteins in gram-negative anaerobic bacteria.

The outer-membrane proteins (OMPs) of bacteria function as the dynamic interface between the bacterium and its surroundings and are involved in maintenance of cell structure, binding a variety of substances, adhesion to other cells, and regulation of transport of both nutrients and bactericidal agents. There is a vast amount of information about aerobic OMPs and their roles in immunogenicity, v...

Outer membrane protein biogenesis in Gram-negative bacteria

Gram-negative bacteria contain a double membrane which serves for both protection and for providing nutrients for viability. The outermost of these membranes is called the outer membrane (OM), and it contains a host of fully integrated membrane proteins which serve essential functions for the cell, including nutrient uptake, cell adhesion, cell signalling and waste export. For pathogenic strain...
